Getting started

Set up your account, understand what needs your attention, and take your first steps in Athean.

Before you begin

Athean revolves around two flows: Signals are things you need to know. Tasks are things you need to do. Prospecting, list building, enrichment, sequences, and agent automations support these flows. Dashboards help you track your efforts, understand the results, and decide what to improve.

Start with a small group of accounts you know so you can learn how account context helps you choose your next action. Find your way around explains how the pieces fit together.

Sign in with the work account your organization uses for Athean. Your administrator manages your access, license, and shared configuration. If a page or record is missing, check with them before creating a duplicate.

Setting up a team? Start with User provisioning, define your Groups, and review Permissions and roles. Assign their Home and account layouts, then check that each teammate is ready.

A note on integrations: some features depend on connected tools. You connect your own email and LinkedIn accounts in Settings. To connect other platforms, including Salesforce, HubSpot, or your internal tools, chat with us. The data, filters, and actions you see depend on those connections and your permissions.

Set up how you work

  1. Open Settings → Profile information. Check your name, job title, and role so Athean has the right information about you.
  2. Open Integrations and connect the email provider you use for work. Connect LinkedIn if it is part of your outreach.
  3. In Emails, review your email signature. In Scheduling, review the settings for automated outreach. Your organization may manage some of these settings.
  4. Select Save when you have finished changing your settings.

For a detailed walkthrough, follow Connect your tools. Connecting an integration and signing in to Athean are separate steps; being able to log in does not establish every connection your workflow needs.

Build context and take your first steps

Use prospecting to build the context for your work, then decide what needs attention and take the next step.

  1. Open Find accounts and narrow your search to a familiar industry, location, or company size.
  2. Open an account. Review its company information and recent activity, then use Contacts to find relevant people.
  3. Open a contact and check their role, contact details, and previous interactions. Use the account's Research tab for additional context.
  4. Add the contacts you want to work with to a list. Save your search as a view if you will use the same criteria again.
  5. When you are ready for outreach, choose a sequence and review its steps and enrollment settings. Complete any required approvals, then use Tasks for the work assigned to you.

Keep Signals and Tasks in your daily routine: review what you need to know, then work through what you need to do. Return to Dashboards to see how your efforts are going and decide what to improve.
